Osmo Paint Remover Gel 6611
Prepare previously oiled exterior wood for a fresh finish
Has the oil finish on your decking weathered unevenly, leaving patches of old treatment behind? Osmo Paint Remover Gel 6611 helps remove old decking oils and suitable wood stains before the wood is refinished.
The thick, ready-to-use gel loosens remaining finish. This prepares the surface for thorough rinsing, neutralising with Wood Reviver Power-Gel and a fresh application of oil.
Where can it be used?
-
Wooden decking with old oil finishes.
-
Wooden garden furniture with a suitable oil or wood stain treatment.
-
Partially weathered surfaces with patches of remaining finish.
Always carry out a trial treatment first. This establishes compatibility, the amount required and the appropriate contact time. Results vary with the surface and existing coating.
Take particular care with veneers, which may separate from their backing during treatment.
How to use Paint Remover Gel
-
Prepare the area. Brush away loose dirt and carefully protect surrounding surfaces and plants.
-
Stir thoroughly. The gel is ready to use and must not be diluted. Stir periodically during application.
-
Apply generously. Spread approximately 200 ml per m² onto dry wood using a suitable brush or decking cleaning brush.
-
Allow it to work. Leave for up to approximately 60 minutes, but no longer than necessary according to your trial. Keep the treated surface moist during this time, for example with a fine water mist.
-
Scrub and rinse thoroughly. Work along the grain with plenty of clean water to remove the gel and loosened finish.
-
Check after drying. Repeat the treatment where necessary.
Remaining gel can interfere with the drying and adhesion of subsequent finishes. Thorough rinsing is essential.
Before applying a new oil finish
Allow the cleaned wood to dry. Then treat it with Osmo Wood Reviver Power-Gel 6609, following its instructions, to neutralise the surface and address greying.
Use these products as separate treatment stages. Never mix them together.
After the wet treatments, let the wood dry thoroughly before applying oil. Allow approximately 24–48 hours, depending on conditions. Cold or humid weather may require a longer drying period.
Coverage and available sizes
-
Coverage: approximately 5 m² per litre with one application.
-
Application amount: approximately 200 ml per m².
-
Sizes: 0.5 litre, 2.5 litres, 5 litres and 10 litres.
-
The 2.5 litre version includes a brush.
Actual consumption depends on the wood, the existing finish and the number of treatments required.
Protect yourself and surrounding surfaces
Warning: may be corrosive to metals, causes skin irritation and serious eye irritation. Wear protective gloves and eye protection.
Protect aluminium, zinc, painted surfaces, porous paving and sensitive plants. Immediately rinse accidental splashes from surrounding surfaces.
Do not mix the gel with other products or acids. Keep it in its original container and out of reach of children. Dispose of residues according to local regulations.
