Product description

Osmo Liquid Maintenance Wax 3029 Clear

Osmo Liquid Maintenance Wax 3029 is a clear care product for periodically refreshing wooden floors, furniture and other surfaces treated with Polyx-Oil or a compatible oil-and-wax finish.

It contains hard waxes including carnauba and candelilla. These supplement the existing protective treatment and can restore a cared-for appearance to local areas that have become dull or lightly worn.

3029 is intended for occasional use. It is not an everyday floor cleaner and cannot replace a new oil treatment when the timber has become bare or unprotected.

When should 3029 be used?

Use 3029 when an existing clear or natural oil-and-wax finish:

  • Is beginning to look dull in local areas

  • Has developed a dry or neglected appearance

  • Shows light signs of use

  • Requires occasional additional care

  • Would benefit from a small quantity of protective hard wax

  • Needs refreshing without immediately re-oiling the complete surface

It can also be used locally on certain stubborn marks, including grease and shoe-polish stains. Always test the method on an inconspicuous area first.

Use Liquid Maintenance Wax White 3087 on white or lightly pigmented surfaces. Do not automatically use clear 3029 on every white floor, as a clear product may make the colour appear warmer.

Not a weekly cleaning product

Use our Eco Multi Cleaner for normal weekly hygienic cleaning and the removal of everyday dirt.

Use Wisch-Fix 8016 separately when the existing oil or wax finish requires conditioning.

Use Liquid Maintenance Wax 3029 only periodically, such as several times per year or when local dull areas become visible.

Assigning each product a separate task helps prevent excessive wax build-up, streaks and uneven sheen.

Suitable surfaces

Liquid Maintenance Wax 3029 can be used indoors on:

  • Wooden floors treated with clear Polyx-Oil

  • Oiled or waxed parquet

  • Wooden stairs

  • Wooden furniture

  • Tables and interior woodwork

  • Other solvent-resistant surfaces with a compatible oil-and-wax treatment

Always test an unfamiliar finish first. Do not use the clear version on white or very lightly pigmented surfaces without a trial application.

Preparation

The surface must be completely dry, free from dust and clean. Remove grit and loose dirt with a vacuum cleaner, soft broom or dust mop.

If the floor is dirty, clean it first with Eco Multi Cleaner and allow it to dry fully. Never apply maintenance wax over dirt, grease or residue from another cleaner, as this may distribute or locally trap the contamination underneath the wax.

Following intensive cleaning that removes oil and wax components, Liquid Maintenance Wax will not normally be sufficient to restore the complete protection. Apply a compatible Maintenance Oil or Polyx-Oil treatment instead.

Manual application

Apply approximately 2 teaspoons per m². Immediately spread this small quantity with a suitable microfibre cloth, wax applicator cloth or white/beige pad.

Work in manageable sections and distribute the product in an exceptionally thin film. The surface should appear even without remaining wet or greasy.

Do not apply additional product in an attempt to create more protection. An excessive wax layer can produce streaks, traffic marks, tacky patches and differences in sheen.

For local stain treatment, apply a small amount to a cloth or suitable Scotchpad. Work carefully and check that the existing finish is not being damaged.

We do not recommend steel wool on wooden flooring. Loose metal particles can remain behind, scratch the surface or react with tannin-rich wood such as oak and cause dark staining.

Machine application

On larger areas, Liquid Maintenance Wax 3029 can be processed with a suitable single-disc machine such as the Osmo FloorXcenter.

Apply only approximately 2 teaspoons per m² and distribute it using a clean white pad. Turn over or replace the pad if streaks develop or it becomes saturated.

For a slightly higher sheen, polish the dry surface with a clean white pad. Machine polishing can increase the sheen of the existing floor, so first confirm that this matches the required appearance.

Drying and coverage

Under normal conditions, a correctly applied, exceptionally thin layer dries in approximately 30–40 minutes. Maintain good ventilation during drying.

Lower temperatures, higher humidity or excessive application will increase the drying time.

Estimated coverage is approximately 80–100 m² per litre. Actual consumption depends on the condition, absorbency and contamination of the surface.

Do not use or walk on the surface until it is fully dry and no longer feels slippery or greasy.

Prevent excessive wax build-up

More maintenance wax does not automatically produce more protection. Repeated or heavy application can lead to an accumulation of wax residue, which may appear as:

  • Footprints or sliding marks

  • Local differences in sheen

  • Streaks after polishing

  • A slippery or greasy feel

  • Dirt adhering more readily to the surface

Only use the product when the floor requires it and always apply very sparingly.

When is maintenance wax insufficient?

Maintenance wax mainly supplements the wax component of the existing treatment. Over the years, a floor will also require replacement of its oil components.

If the surface is severely worn, exposed or has been intensively stripped, use a suitable Maintenance Oil or apply a new thin coat of Polyx-Oil after correct preparation.

Do not allow maintenance wax to delay a necessary restoration when the timber is no longer adequately protected.

Practical maintenance routine

As a general practical guide, we recommend:

  • Vacuuming or dry mopping regularly

  • Cleaning weekly or as required with Eco Multi Cleaner

  • Using Wisch-Fix separately when additional conditioning is needed

  • Applying Liquid Maintenance Wax 3029 locally or several times per year

  • Restoring worn oil protection promptly with Maintenance Oil or Polyx-Oil

The actual maintenance frequency depends on use, household conditions, pets, footwear and the quantity of grit carried indoors.
