Product description

Osmo Liquid Maintenance Wax 3087 White Transparent

Osmo Liquid Maintenance Wax 3087 is a white-pigmented care product for wooden surfaces finished with white or lightly transparent white oil or hardwax oil.

It is designed to condition the existing treatment periodically and refresh local areas that have started to appear dull. Its hard waxes supplement the wax component of the protective finish, while the white pigment helps retain the pale appearance of the surface.

Use 3087 only on white or lightly white-pigmented finishes. For natural, dark or clear-oiled flooring, choose Liquid Maintenance Wax 3029 Clear.

When should 3087 White be used?

Use 3087 when a white oil-and-wax finish:

  • Is becoming dull in local areas

  • Has developed a dry or neglected appearance

  • Shows light signs of use

  • Is starting to look slightly warmer or yellower

  • Requires occasional additional conditioning

  • Needs refreshing without immediately re-oiling the complete surface

The maintenance wax can support the existing white appearance, but it cannot replace colour that has worn away completely. Exposed timber requires restoration with the original white oil or hardwax-oil system.

Difference between 3087 White and 3029 Clear

Select the version that matches the existing finish:

  • 3087 White Transparent: for white or lightly white-pigmented timber

  • 3029 Clear: for natural, clear and darker finishes

Clear maintenance wax may make a white floor appear warmer. The white version can leave an unwanted pale haze on natural or dark timber.

If the existing finish is uncertain, prepare a test area and assess it only after it has dried completely.

Not intended for weekly cleaning

Liquid Maintenance Wax 3087 is not an everyday or weekly mopping product.

Use our Eco Multi Cleaner for normal hygienic cleaning and the removal of everyday dirt and light marks.

Use Wisch-Fix 8016 separately when the existing oil or wax finish requires additional conditioning.

Use Liquid Maintenance Wax 3087 only periodically or locally when the white finish begins to appear dull or lightly worn.

Keeping these tasks separate helps prevent excessive wax build-up, streaking and uneven colour.

Suitable surfaces

Liquid Maintenance Wax 3087 can be used indoors on:

  • White-oiled wooden floors

  • White-treated parquet and plank floors

  • Surfaces finished with white Polyx-Oil

  • White or lightly pigmented wooden stairs

  • White-oiled furniture

  • Pale tables and interior woodwork

  • Other solvent-resistant wooden surfaces with a compatible white oil-and-wax finish

Do not use on untreated, dark, natural or unknown finishes without testing first.

Preparation

The floor or furniture must be completely dry, free from dust and clean. Remove grit and loose dirt with a vacuum cleaner, soft broom or dust mop.

Clean a dirty surface first with Eco Multi Cleaner and allow it to dry fully. Never apply maintenance wax over dirt or residue from another product, as this may spread or trap contamination underneath the wax.

If intensive cleaning has removed oil and wax components from the finish, use a suitable white Maintenance Oil or white Polyx-Oil. Maintenance wax alone will not restore complete protection.

Mix extremely thoroughly

The white pigment can settle at the bottom of the container during storage. Mix or shake the product very thoroughly in accordance with the label instructions.

Make sure the pigment is distributed completely and evenly. Inadequate mixing can produce lighter and darker areas across the same floor.

Mix the product again periodically during a larger treatment.

Manual application

Apply approximately 2 teaspoons per m². Spread this small quantity immediately with a suitable microfibre cloth, wax applicator cloth or white/beige pad.

Work in small, manageable sections and distribute the maintenance wax in an exceptionally thin film along the grain. Do not leave wet white drops or accumulated material behind.

Inspect edges, joints and deeper grain carefully. Excess material in these areas may make the white pigment more visible after drying.

Do not apply additional product to create a whiter result. Maintenance wax is not a wood stain; a heavy application is more likely to create streaks, footprints and pigment patches.

Treating local stains

For a stubborn mark, apply a small quantity to a cloth or suitable Scotchpad. Work carefully and limit the treatment to the affected area.

Check regularly that the existing white finish is not becoming locally paler, glossier or different in texture.

Do not use steel wool on wooden flooring. Metal particles can scratch the surface or cause dark discolouration on tannin-rich timber such as oak.

Machine application

For larger areas, Liquid Maintenance Wax 3087 can be processed with a suitable single-disc machine such as the Osmo FloorXcenter.

Use a clean white pad and apply no more than approximately 2 teaspoons per m². Turn over or replace the pad as soon as it becomes saturated or begins producing streaks.

Always work from an evenly distributed section towards a new section. This helps prevent white pigment from accumulating in one place.

Polishing after drying can increase the sheen. Only do this when a slightly glossier result is desired.

Drying and coverage

A correctly applied, extremely thin coat dries in approximately 30–40 minutes under normal conditions. Maintain good ventilation.

Lower temperatures, higher humidity and heavy application will increase the drying period.

Estimated coverage is approximately 80–100 m² per litre. Actual consumption depends on the condition, texture and absorbency of the surface.

Do not use or walk on the surface until it is completely dry and no longer feels slippery or greasy.

Prevent wax and pigment build-up

Excessive or frequent application can result in local accumulation of wax and white pigment. This may cause:

  • White streaks or overlap marks

  • Visible footprints and sliding marks

  • Differences in colour and sheen

  • A slippery or greasy surface

  • Dirt adhering more readily

Use 3087 only when required and always distribute it extremely thinly.

When should the floor be re-oiled?

Maintenance wax mainly supplements the hard-wax component of the existing finish. Over time, a floor also requires replacement oil components.

If the finish is severely worn, intensively cleaned or locally exposed, use a suitable white Maintenance Oil or restore the floor with the original white Polyx-Oil.

Complete this treatment before moisture and dirt can penetrate directly into the timber.

Practical maintenance routine

As a general practical guide, we recommend:

  • Vacuuming or dry mopping regularly

  • Cleaning weekly or as required with Eco Multi Cleaner

  • Using Wisch-Fix separately for additional conditioning

  • Applying Liquid Maintenance Wax 3087 locally or several times per year

  • Restoring the white oil finish before the timber becomes exposed

The required frequency depends on use, pets, footwear, grit and the level of traffic in the room.
