Buffing brush for Floorboy XL300 and XL450

This special Floorservice buffing brush is suitable for the Floorboy XL300 and Floorboy XL450. It has been developed for applying and buffing floor wax on wooden floors and other surfaces that may be maintained with wax.

The brush helps distribute wax evenly across the surface and subsequently buffs the treated floor. This produces a more even finish while considerably reducing the amount of demanding manual work.

The buffing brush is softer and less aggressive than the special Floorboy scrubbing brush. Use the dedicated scrubbing brush for removing stubborn dirt from strong surfaces such as tiles, stone or concrete.

Buffing brush or scrubbing brush?

The buffing brush and scrubbing brush have different applications.

Use this buffing brush for applying, distributing and buffing suitable floor waxes and maintenance products.

Use the Floorboy scrubbing brush for stronger cleaning and scrubbing on resistant surfaces such as tiles, concrete, stone and suitable natural-stone or resilient floors.

The stiff scrubbing brush is not the same as this buffing brush and may be too aggressive for delicate wooden floors.

Check the floor and maintenance product

Not every wooden floor may be treated with floor wax. Only use wax when permitted by the existing floor finish and the maintenance-product manufacturer.

Do not use this brush without testing first on:

• Lacquered or varnished floors

• Laminate

• Untreated wood

• Very soft wood species

• PVC or vinyl

• High-gloss surfaces

• Floors with an unknown finish

Test on a small inconspicuous area whenever suitability is uncertain.

Fitting the buffing brush

Switch the Floorboy off and unplug it before fitting the brush.

Place the buffing brush flat on the floor. Position the Floorboy directly above it and carefully press the machine evenly into the attachment.

Check that the brush is secure, flat and correctly centred. Do not operate the machine when the brush is fitted at an angle. Incorrect installation may cause excessive vibration.

Applying floor wax

Always read the instructions supplied with the selected wax. Observe the prescribed coverage, working time and drying time.

First remove dust, sand and other loose dirt with a vacuum cleaner or soft broom. The floor must be clean and dry as specified by the wax manufacturer.

Apply the prescribed amount of wax thinly and evenly. Never apply more product than necessary. An excessively thick layer may remain sticky, cause streaks and attract dirt.

Work in manageable sections and guide the Floorboy calmly backwards and forwards. Do not allow the brush to work in one position for an extended period.

Buffing the wax

Allow the wax to settle or dry according to the maintenance product’s instructions.

Buff the surface evenly with the Floorboy. Work systematically in overlapping passes to ensure that every section receives the same treatment.

If a finer or higher-gloss finish is required, the surface may subsequently be polished with a suitable white or wool pad, provided that this is permitted by the maintenance product.

The final result depends on the existing finish, wood species, amount of product and selected application method.

Important safety advice

• Read the Floorboy and floor-wax instructions before use

• Unplug the machine before fitting or removing the brush

• Check that the brush is flat and correctly mounted

• Hold the handle with both hands when starting

• Do not allow the machine to operate in one position for too long

• Never run the Floorboy over its power cable

• Do not use flammable or unsuitable maintenance products

• Provide sufficient ventilation during application and drying

• Keep children and pets away from the working area

• Never leave the connected machine unattended

Cleaning after use

Switch the Floorboy off and unplug it. Remove the buffing brush immediately after use.

Clean the brush according to the cleaning instructions for the selected wax. Some wax products must not be cleaned with water and require a specific cleaning agent. Always check the product information first.

Allow the brush to dry completely before storage. Store it flat and do not leave the Floorboy standing on the fitted brush for extended periods. This prevents the bristles from becoming deformed.
